Environmental Charter Schools and Green Ambassadors Institute presents RETHINK:GREEN
Art Exhibition, Organic Tasting, and Green Awards Charity Event
October 23, 2010, Culver City, CA – Environmental Charter Schools (ECS) and Green Ambassadors Institute will elevate awareness and celebrate ten years of green education on the evening of November 6th, 2010.
RETHINK:GREEN is an art exhibition, organic tasting, and green award charity event hosted by featured celebrities Ed Begley Jr., Rachelle Carson Begley, Lisa Ling, Anna Getty, James Kyson Lee, MTV’s Buried Life Crew and many other notables. The event has an overall green theme from running on solar to low waste and all funds raised go to green education.
Environmental Charter Schools is a model for green learning founded ten years ago in Los Angeles. Launched through ECS, Green Ambassador Institute provides green education to underserved schools in the state of California and plans to expand nationwide in 2011 in a partnership with Global Green USA, a national environmental non-profit organization responsible for creating more than $15 billion dollars worth of new green school construction in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New Orleans.
RETHINK:GREEN Green Ambassador Awards will honor ten green leaders who have influenced, inspired and provided leadership to our community through their vision and innovation for a more sustainable world. The students selected the winners and will present the awards to Matt Petersen, President & CEO of Global Green USA, Mark Gold, President of Heal the Bay, Andy Meyers, CEO of Shangri-LA Construction and eight other leaders.
RETHINK: GREEN art exhibition will feature some of the most compelling visual artists, including Shepard Fairey, and a silent auction of travel, spa, fashion, beauty, and other items, all from environmentally and socially sustainable businesses. All proceeds will benefit Environmental Charter Schools and the Green Ambassadors Program.
For the evening festivities, RETHINK: GREEN Organic Tasting will featured an organic & sustainable wine, spirit and local food tasting presented by Wine & Spirits Magazine, along with Green Truck catering, serving a high-end organic fall harvest menu, as well as local purveyors of fresh seasonal fare.

About Environmental Charter Schools:
The mission of Environmental Charter Schools is to inspire students to discover their own sense of purpose, to equip all students with the knowledge and skills to graduate from college, and to empower them to become quality stewards of their community and world. On top of our challenging classroom programs, students are required to apply concepts and skills gained in class to problem-solve local civic and environmental issues, and take action to make a measurable impact. Students also participate in outdoor educational challenges to develop self-confidence and leadership skills. The first school was formed in 1999, by founder Alison Suffet-Diaz along with a group of parents, educators, businesses and non-profits to meet the educational challenge in a low-income area of SW Los Angeles. http://www.echsonline.org/
About Green Ambassadors Institute:
Green Ambassadors, a project of Environmental Charter High School, is an environmental education program that empowers youth to be agents of change in their communities and world. Through service learning, community partnerships, and cross-cultural and global exchange, the program fosters personal growth and leadership skills to help youth tackle the most critical environmental issues facing our planet. http://www.greenambassadors.org/
