Experiential Learning in the Great Outdoors
As part of the effort to have ECHS students actively participate in
experiential learning, all grade level students participate in an
extended outdoor education trip each year.

9th Grade - Catalina Island
The freshman students take a three-day and two-night educational trip to Catalina Island and participate in the Catalina Environmental Leadership Program
(CELP). The trip goal is to allow students to interact first hand with the unique and rich Catalina Island environment while making connections to their conservation, and secondly, to foster student self-awareness and self-confidence.
10TH Grade Joshua Tree National Park
The sophomore students taking a three-day and two-night educational trip to Joshua Tree National Park from March 11 - 13, 2009. Students hike, camp, bike, and rock climbing as part of the
Champions experiential education program.
11th Grade Backpacking
The junior students take a four-day and three-night educational trip to the Sespe Wilderness near Santa Barbara from May 2 - 5, 2009. Students hike, bike and camp as part of the
Champions experiential education program.
Senior - L.A. Amazing Race
The senior students take day trips throughout various parts of Los Angeles. Students participate in challenges and team-building adventures designed by the senior teaching team.
